I almost quit reading this book about the residents of a home for the elderly partway through, but because of one reviewer saying it was worth continuing, I did just that. At Part 2 I found myself laughing out loud, a clear picture of the residents in my mind. It was important for me to remember this is a black comedy, not the usual humor I am used to. As one reviewer stated, there was racism. It was not on the part of the author; it was an attitude expressed by some of the seniors consistent with their character. If you order this book keep on until the end. It is worth it.Product details

Marsh Heirs A Black Comedy eBook Rufus Miles Reviews
This didn't work for me- dark comedy and off color and crass are not the same in my book. I deleted this after two chapters.
This book was so vividly playing out in my head I thought to myself...this needs to be a movie!! I really enjoyed this black comedy, it was funny, quirky and downright wrong at times.....perfect!!
This story just keeps getting nuttier with every chapter. Like any really good tale, it has layers of mystery. Well, ok some layers are just off center, but still this is just a fun read.
rather stupid, and poorly written, glad I didn't pay much for it. I read a lot and this was a trial to get through.
another book I deleted from my kindle before finishing. I gave it a fair shot, at least 1/3 to 1/2 into it but I didn't find it to be funny or even interesting enough to finish. Not a good read for me, unfortunately.
From the opening, hilarious, scene of a ghastly death in an East Anglian swamp, Marsh Heirs has everything, from priapic geriatrics to the casual cruelties of a (much) decayed noble family. Ingeniously plotted, populated with repellent characters, exquisitely drawn, this elegant and fast-paced drama insists you read it at a sitting. Two pages in and I was hooked. No, one page.
This book was an attempt to be funny, but it was actually more silly than funny. It felt like the author was trying to slather the comedy on with a trowel which just didn't work. It wasn't badly written - I have definitely come across authors with less ability to write than this, but the story itself was too absurd, the characters were too predictable and the whole plot was just too bizarre to actually be amusing.
